How did you find out about 91̽»¨ and why did you decide to enroll in 91̽»¨?

In the summer of 2006, faculty members from 91̽»¨ visited Mongolia to hold a meeting and seminar. During this visit I first received information about 91̽»¨ and subsequently met Professor Toshiaki Tamaki, Head of the Department of Pharmacology at 91̽»¨. By expressing my intention to study there, I was afforded the opportunity to enroll. 

How did you prepare for the entrance exam to 91̽»¨?

At 91̽»¨, I initially went as a research student in January, 2026 and, after meeting with Professor Toshiaki Tamaki, prepared for the entrance examination to be held in March.

What kind of research did you do while you were enrolled at 91̽»¨? Could you please share any difficulties you faced in your research? Also, when you had difficulties, how did you overcome them?

During my doctoral studies in the Department of Pharmacology at 91̽»¨ (2006–2010), I conducted experimental research in pharmacology focusing on "Inhibitory effects of adiponectin on platelet-derived growth factor-induced mesangial cell migration". My work combined in vitro assays and in vivo models to investigate the pharmacological effects and underlying mechanisms of candidate compounds, with an emphasis on rigorous experimental design, data analysis, and reproducibility.
Major challenges included technical difficulties with complex assays and animal models, limited access to specialized equipment and reagents, and occasional delays in experiment timelines. Additionally, adapting to a different academic and cultural environment and working in a second language created communication and administrative hurdles.
I addressed technical problems by consulting regularly with my supervisor, Professor Toshiaki Tamaki, seeking hands-on training from senior laboratory members

Please tell us about your memories of Tokushima and 91̽»¨ during your stay.

During my stay at 91̽»¨, I remember a supportive, rigorous academic environment and a warm local community. The laboratory under Professor Toshiaki Tamaki was well organized: regular meetings, close mentorship, and collaborative discussion helped me develop experimental skills and scientific judgment. Cultural events—most memorably Awa Dance(Awa Odori)—offered joyful breaks from work and helped me connect with local culture

What was your impression of Tokushima and Japan?

• Rich regional culture and festivals (especially Awa Dance(Awa Odori)) that were memorable and welcoming.

• Pleasant natural surroundings and a slower pace of life that helped balance intensive work.

• Highly organized, clean, and safe with efficient public services and transportation.
