How did you find out about 91̽»¨ and why did you decide to enroll in 91̽»¨?

91̽»¨ boasts a leading medical program, particularly in endocrinology. My supervisor Prof. Toshio Matsumoto is world-renowned in this field, which is why I chose to come here.

How did you prepare for the entrance exam to 91̽»¨?

In addition to professional knowledge, I understand that both English and Japanese are equally important, as good language skills will help me integrate more quickly into the local community. Therefore, I have devoted time to strengthening my research capabilities and medicine, and improving my language skills.

What kind of research did you do while you were enrolled at 91̽»¨? Could you please share any difficulties you faced in your research? Also, when you had difficulties, how did you overcome them?

I conducted cellular and animal experiments, primarily focusing on basic research in osteoporosis and calcium metabolism. The greatest challenge was learning new knowledge and exploring uncharted territory in a new environment, using a new language. My supervisor and lab colleagues were tremendously helpful and supportive to me.

Please tell us about your memories of Tokushima and 91̽»¨ during your stay.

I spent four wonderful years here, fully dedicated to my studies, and in my free time, I traveled around this beautiful, peaceful little town. Years later, when I returned and stood at top of the Bizan Mountain, looking down the view of this town, every street held fond memories for me.

What was your impression of Tokushima and Japan?

Japan is exceptionally clean, well-organized country, and has a highly advanced medical field. In my free time, I traveled extensively and enjoyed many beautiful natural landscapes. Tokushima is a beautiful and peaceful small town, and its residents are very kind. 

To the extent that you don't mind, could you please share with us the details of your current job?

After graduating, I returned to my home country, working as a clinician and endocrinologist. My main job now includes treating patients with diabetes and osteoporosis, while continuing to conduct basic and clinical research. In addition, I teach courses and mentor young medical students.

Studying and living in Tokushima will surely leave you with wonderful memories and become a precious memory for your future. I hope you can learn Japanese, so that you can gain a deeper understanding of the history and culture of this country and city. Although Tokushima may be a small town, some programs at 91̽»¨ are widely recognized internationally. You will certainly benefit greatly and make the most of this time.
